the nervous system and promote fertility; high mineral content

body and may balance the acid/alkaline level of the vagina and
uterus in favour of conception
- often combined with Peppermint in fertility brews (mint is safe and
pleasant taking and a sexual stimulant)
- infuse one ounce of Red Clover blossoms and a teaspoon of
Peppermint (or any other mint) in a quart of water for four hours.
- this infusion may be taken freely throughout the day and for
several months continuously
2. Nettle leaves (Urtica diocia)

3. Red Raspberry leaves

- most effective when combined with Red Clover
- steep one half ounce of Red Clover blossoms and one half ounce
Raspberry leaves in quart of water for four hours; drink one or more
cups daily and can be continued for months
- another method is to add 5-15 drop of either Dong Quai root
tincture or False Unicorn root tincture to each cup of Raspberry leaf
infusion
4. Don Quai root (Angelica sinensis)
- USE ONLY IN COMBINATION WITH OTHER HERBS
- normalizes menstrual periods
- available as "Tang Kwei Gin"
- best results when taken during days between ovulation and
menstruation and discontinued between menstrual flow and
ovulation
- possible to make Dong Quai/Comfrey root tincture if "Gin" is not
available
5. False Unicorn root (Chamaelirium luteum)P
- powerful and positive uterine tonic; strong beneficial and
alkalinizing influence on ovaries, kidneys and bladder
- difficult to obtain except in commercial combination tinctures and
capsules

Other helpful things:
- ovulation is controlled by light. Leave a light on in your bedroom
for three nights midway through your menstrual cycle; all other
nights keep the room in total darkness. You will ovulate when the
light is one. Have intercourse during the three "light" nights. This
method is called lunaception and combines well with the herbs that
promote fertility.
- make sure that you are getting enough calcium and magnesium
as these are two minerals thought to be the most important in
affecting a woman's ability to conceive and maintain a pregnancy

Some useful herbs in treating female infertility

Red Clover Blossoms (Trifolium pratense)
One of the most highly recommended herbs for infertility problems. It provides an extremely high protein content which is beneficial to the whole body, a high vitamin content which is extremely helpful to the uterus, and also contains numerous trace minerals necessary to the glandular system to help balance and maintain proper hormonal function. In addition, it aids the acid/alkaline balance of the vagina and uterus. This is important because high acidic levels in the vagina and uterus kills sperm. The fertile mucus which is generated by your body near ovulation is normally alkaline, helping the sperm to survive.
Raspberry leaves (Rubus idaeus)
Raspberry leaves are an effective toner for the reproductive organs. Containing large quantities of calcium, raspberry leaves are commonly used throughout pregnancy and are very safe for this purpose. Calcium and magnesium are the two minerals which are thought to be the most crucial both in conceiving and maintaining pregnancy.
Nettle leaves (Urtica dioica)
Nettles are also an excellent uterine tonic. High in calcium, iron and other minerals, it is a very useful in aiding the kidneys and adrenal glands and excellent for the hormonal system.
Balm (Melissa officinales, Labiatae)
Also known as Garden Balm, Sweet Balm and Lemon Balm. According to Paracelsus, the medieval herbalist, Balm safeguards against impotency and aides in the prevention of infertility.
Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza lepidota)
Noted herbalist William Le Sassier considered Licorice very important for people who desire to conceive. The herb contains estrogenic substances.
Damiana (Turnera aphrodisiaca)
An old folk remedy for sexual impotence, Damina has a very long reputation as having the ability to strengthen the reproductive organs.
Wheat Germ Oil
Although not an herb, Wheat Germ Oil has been included here because proper levels of vitamin E is critical in maintaining reproductive health and Wheat Germ is an excellent natural source for vitamin E. Additionally, studies have shown that it is beneficial not only to women's fertility, but to men as well.

Precautions should be taken when using essential oils during pregnancy. Care
is needed in the selection of oils used through out pregnancy because some
essential oils may relax muscles, stimulate contractions, induce
menstruation, or cross the placenta. As a general rule of thumb, it is best
to avoid all essential oils during the first trimester.
The following oils are considered safe thereafter: orange, grapefruit, lemon,
lime, neroli, mandarin, petitgrain, palmarosa, patchouli, rosewood, and
ylang-ylang. In addition to the list of hazardous oils, the following oils
should definitely not be used during pregnancy:
